## Budgeting

Budgeting can be difficult, so here is some short tips on how to stay on top of your money!

* Always ensure that you have enough money to put on the event.
* Create a budget outlining what expenditures are required and share among the committee.
* Always have an emergency fund for unexpected expenses (or expect the event to always be 10% more expensive!)
* Make sure you prioritise important expenses first. Please don’t buy non-essentials until you’ve covered the required items.
* Funding and external sponsorship is not yours until it is confirmed in your account. This is particularly important when you are working with external sponsors or funds which you must apply for.

**Always get a receipt of payment to Goldsmiths Students' Union.**
* If you lack the funds to run an event, please feel free to apply to the Societies Fund. Once you've applied for the funds and they have been accepted, you will be able to start planning the event!
