Activities

In this section there is information about organising extra sessions, BUCS & LUSL competitions and putting on socials.

Additional & Specialist Sessions

During the year you may want to organise some extra session for you club for example - a preseason tournament or goal keeping coach (football team). In such cases as the committee needs to organise this and inform the sports development coordinator with all relevant information - date, time, location, what officials you will require etc. The funds used for such activity will be from you membership budget, fundraising or sponsorship, so ensure you have the funds required.

BUCS & LUSL Leagues

At the end of the spring term (June) each club wishing to participate in the BUCS (National) or LUSL (London regional) league must inform the sports development coordinator so your entries can be made. The BUCS & LUSL Leagues both run from the beginning of October to the end of March. There are some sports which run into the summer months May / June (e.g. cricket)

Competitions

All clubs are encourage to enter into BUCS National competitions and their sports National Governing Body related student competitions. University sport offers students the opportunity to participate in high level sporting competitions so do take advantage of these events. There will be varying levels of eligibility for competitions so pay close attention to this before. You will need to discuss any competition entries with the sports development coordinator to ensure the club and SU can fund all related costs involved

Socials

All affiliated Goldsmiths Students' Union clubs should offer a social membership for students who may want to be part of a team but not participate in league games or competitions. We want to encourage an active campus where everyone is welcome and can be part of the sports community. Committee members should work to ensure there is an active, diverse and inclusive social calendar that caters to all members of their club.

Clubs are encouraged to have mixed socials with other clubs and make use of the social spaces we have at the Students' Union (for example the SU Cafe, Bar and Venue)
